So, they made a movie of one of my favorite books, Choke. I should be happy about that, but this really doesn’t look great. The book wasn’t more funny than dark and the opposite looks true of the film. It seems like they tried to turn a very dark religious, sex entralling novel into a witty comedy about life. I like Sam Rockwell. He is a funny guy, but I am really feeling iffy about the way the movie was done. I’ve heard Chuck Palahniuk was very hands on with this one and he is a genius, so maybe it is just a shitty trailer and excellent film.
On a side note Chuck’s new novel Snuff (about a pornstar trying to set the gang bang world record and at the same time dying to make her child she gave up for adoption very rich in the process) would make for a great film. I could definately see that happening. They just would only be able to do facial closeup (not that kind of facial perv) and stay away from the money shots.
Anyway, enjoy the trailer if you can.
