Improving a flawed process.

Just had an idea while reading Jake Hurwitz’s blog about the death penality.

He said, “I think the way the whole thing works is especially confusing. The death penalty seems to mainly be about justice, you take a life, the government takes yours. But it’s not really an eye for an eye. A murder victim doesn’t usually get to have a last meal of his or her choice, they don’t get to say goodbye to loved ones, they don’t have the opportunity to leave the world with thoughtful final words. I don’t know that there’s any way I would try to improve the process, it just seems weird.”

How crazy would it be if instead of having a death row the just killed the person in court.  I’m not sure I approve of the death penalty, but this would certainly make things a little more equal.  The trial goes on until there is no doubt that the person is guilty of murder.  While the murderer is being led to jail an executioner is hired to run in and off the motherfucker Jack Ruby style.

I understand that this is a somewhat insane suggestion, but it is only an effort to make the death penalty more like the way the victim was killed.

I’m of course only half serious about this lol.
