Ricky recently wrote about how Paul Rudd is the, “world’s awesomest human.” To objectively demonstrate, he presented a Google search for “Paul Rudd is a douchebag” that produced zero results. I honestly didn’t think this was remarkable at first, but I was wrong. (sidenote: it’s been a week since Ricky’s post, and “Paul Rudd is a douchebag,” now produces 613 results. I just pushed it to 614.)
I caught Foo Fighters covering You’re So Vain at the Grammy nominations this week and I thought, who doesn’t love Dave Grohl? Foo Fighters have at least two 5-star albums, he’s friends with fun people like Tenacious D, and, oh yeah, he was 1/3 of Nirvana. Like Paul Rudd, Dave Grohl has enjoyed mainstream and critical success across a wide variety of genres. Most impressively, he comes off as a really likable super dude. Remember when those two Australian miners were trapped in a cave for two weeks? When Dave Grohl heard they requested his music, he promised to hang out with the pair when Foo Fighters came to town. He was quoted as saying, “I’m not just having one beer with those dudes - we’re going for it.” Awesome.
I really thought my theory that Dave Grohl is the musical Paul Rudd was a slam dunk but, believe it or not, Googling “Dave Grohl is a douchebag” prodcues three results. In Grohl’s defense, the first is a MySpace post where someone says, “I can’t believe you think Dave Grohl is a douchebag.” Still, not just one result.Three!
This really puts Paul Rudd’s achievement in perspective. Is there anyone with Paul Rudd’s level of success who the Internet doesn’t consider a douchebag?
